JESUS OUR REDEEMER
This is the time of season when Christians everywhere reflect upon the death, burial, and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
As we reflect upon and read in the Gospels they tell us of the betrayal and death of our Lord, the rent veil in the temple, and the burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The writer of the book of Hebrews brings in old testament Jewish laws pertaining to blood sacrifices and duties of the High Priest and relates them to the finished work of Jesus Christ. Heb. 9:14 tells us, "How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit, offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? Those who have received Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and repent of their sins find forgiveness in Him and pardon of sin." "And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more." He. 10:17. I am so thankful that Jesus, out of His love for His creation, was willing to give himself the sacrifice that was needed.
In the Old Testament we are told of how the high priest entered yearly into the holy of holies not without a blood sacrifice to offer for himself and for the sins of the people. Heb. 9:11 & 12 Tells this of Jesus "But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building; Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us." Upon Jesus' death the veil of the temple rent in two from top to bottom. The writer of Hebrews also wrote this of Jesus our High Priest "For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feelings of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need" Heb. 4:14-16. I cannot find adequate words to fully express all the gratitude I have for Jesus for the price he paid for our salvation, and for the freedom and assurance to come before the throne of God to find help in time of need. Thank God for His redeeming grace!
After our Lord and Savior was taken down from the cross He was placed in a tomb sealed by a great rock. On the third day Jesus in His resurrection power rose from the dead! "But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the fristfruits of them that slept." "For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead." "For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive," I Cor. 15:20 - 22. In His resurrection He showed His power over death and the grave. We rejoice in knowing as Jesus had power to raise Himself, with that same power, He will raise us! Jesus shown His resurrection power when Lazarus His friend had died. In John 11:25 Jesus said this of Himself as He spoke with Martha, Lazarus sister" ,,,I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me. though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die,,," When Jesus came to the grave of Lazarus He cried with a loud voice "Lazarus, come forth" John 11:43 When Lazarus came forth, Jesus said "Loose him, and let him go." John 11:44, When our Lord returns on that great resurrection day His Word declares "For the Lord himself shall descend with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord," I Thess. 4:16 & 17. Thank God for the blessed hope of eternal life, because He arose we too shall rise! When He returns with a shout the grave will have no hold on us! Praise be to God!
Sad to say many Jew and gentiles have never come the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, still having a veil of unbelief upon their eyes and hearts. Share the Good News of the Gospel and pray for the lost to be saved.
When we come together to celebrate the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, come with thankful hearts and be mindful of all that He accomplished for us by His life and by giving himself a sacrifice for our sins. Come rejoicing in His resurrection which gives to us the blessed hope of eternal Life which we receive through faith in Him upon salvation. Again we say rejoice!
